Common Core Assessment
The year 2014-2015 will bring about big changes to assessment as we know it. There are two major consortia working to create assessments which meet the Common Core State Standards.
The Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium has been working to form a new assessment, currently called the Smarter Balanced Pilot Test, which will be used to assess K-12 students, replacing the current standardized tests.

The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers is a second consortium working to develop a new assessment, currently called The PARCC Assessment. This test will be used in replacement of standardized tests in grades K-12.
